Hi there,

My name is Matthew Moore and I am Flat Face. I am husband, a dog owner, and a film maker.

For the past 5 years, I’ve worked with Young Life, a nonprofit outreach organization to students. While working for Young Life was a great privilege, I now enjoy pursuing the creative outlet of film. Growing up, I was terrible at drawing and painting (I still am). This led me to believe I lacked creativity, even though inside I felt like a creative person. A few years ago, I started filming funny videos with Young Life students. We would show them at weekly clubs to promote camp, fundraisers, or even special events. I quickly realized, not only was I decent at video…but I enjoyed it. It became my creative outlet. A year ago, my wife bought me my first camera, a gorgeous Canon 7D…and the rest is history in the making.

People often ask me where the name “Flat Face” comes from…the story goes something like this:

One time, my wife was working with a group of pre-teen girls, who started making fun of my “flat face”. While cruel and stereotypical of them, I couldn’t argue with their insightful observations. Needless to say, I was “Flat Face” for the rest of the week, and I guess the name has stuck. It’s self-deprecating, but it keeps me humble.
